Vancouver Community Concert Band seeks all brass, woodwind and percussion players, active and retired. All abilities welcome; no audition required. The volunteer community band, along with its polka band, Dixieland Jazz Band and chamber ensembles, performs regularly around the area. Vancouver USA Singers seek applicants to join the 90-member community choir for its upcoming season of performances, featuring four concerts that will include Brahms’ “Requiem” and “The Music Man.” Auditions will consist of a short song; reading music is required. Friends of Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge seeks submissions for its annual Refuge Photography Contest. Photographers can submit up to six nature images taken within the boundaries of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge. Prizes will be awarded in both adult and youth entries. The deadline is Sept. 5, with entries submitted online at http://prophotosupply.com/contests

Second Story Gallery seeks applications from artists interested in displaying work during 2018 in a monthly exhibit. Open to all mediums and styles, guidelines and an application are available on the gallery’s website under “How to Exhibit.” Application deadline is 6 p.m. Sept. 8. Magenta Theater seeks actors for its production of “Prescription for Murder,” featuring a cast of seven. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script, English accents will be used.
