Vancouver’s Downtown Association has hired Steve Becker as its new executive director.

The organization, which promotes business and commerce in downtown Vancouver, made the announcement Thursday after its board of directors voted unanimously to approve Becker.

Becker replaces outgoing executive director Lee Rafferty, who stepped down after eight years.

Becker was most recently manager at Daybreak Youth Services. His prior work includes stints at Coulee Medical Center, Feeding Washington and serving as a public affairs representative in Eastern Washington for then-Gov. ChrisGregoire.

“I am very excited to pick up where others are leaving off,” he said.

Becker officially starts Aug. 7.

The nonprofit association is at 811 Main St. For more information, call 360-258-1129.
