Seven people were displaced after a fire at a double-wide manufactured home in Vancouver’s North Hearthwood neighborhood early this morning.

Vancouver firefighters were called to a 14317 N.E. 18th St. just after 2 a.m. for a report of a fire.

Arriving crews found flames under the deck and possibly underneath the residence and quickly hit it with water from the outside, Vancouver Fire Department spokesman Pete Adams said.

Though the fire was quickly put out, crews remained on scene for about two hours making sure the fire hadn’t extended into the house – a process that required them to cut away part of a wall of the residence, Adams said.

No one was injured, and and nearly everyone made it out of the residence OK, Adams said.

The entry into the house used by one person who uses a wheelchair was blocked by the flames, so firefighters had to go in and bring that person out, Adams said.

Three adults, four children and four pets were affected by the fire, the American Red Cross Reported. Volunteers from the organization responded to the scene to assist the affected with temporary housing, food, clothing, comfort kits and information about recovery services.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
