Letter: Terminal in worst possible site

By Michael Gary, WOODLAND

About three years ago, I attended a Port of Vancouver meeting and spoke up about volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, and the fact that the proposed terminal/shipment site is upwind of the prevailing Southwest winds for all of Vancouver and Clark County. Plus, the site is upwind of the Fruit Valley Elementary School. There could not be a worse site.

At a time when the use of fossil fuels is in decline globally, the secretly negotiated lease is short-sighted and offers long-term health and safety issues for Vancouver and Clark County.
