A Vancouver man accused of trying to stab his roommate over a parking spot dispute was sentenced Thursday to serve seven months in jail on a lesser charge.

Robert I. Emmons III, 34, previously pleaded guilty in Clark County Superior Court to harassment-death threats in connection with the June 3, 2016, incident.

Vancouver police responded to a reported disturbance involving a knife at 4513 N.E. 12th Court. The victim, Mark Pipes, and multiple witnesses said that Emmons arrived home and was upset that Pipes was parked in his spot in the driveway, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Emmons confronted Pipes and then charged at him, pulling out a small knife from his pocket. He said, “I’m going to kill you,” the affidavit states.

According to court records, Emmons may serve his sentence through the jail’s work release program, if he qualifies. He was given credit for four days in custody.
