Letter: A creative plan for homeless

By Dave Venhuis, Vancouver

On the east side of I-5, between Mill Plain and Fourth Plain, there’s the site of a former I-5 rest area. Put up a hospitality center where the former one was, and a noise/barrier wall along the roadway, and you would have a good location for homeless camping.

Let’s put our available resources to work. Plans for homeless housing facilities are great, but there will be plenty of homeless people who will not qualify or who prefer to continue their camping lifestyle. With the help of agencies like Habitat for Humanity and other volunteers, this could be accomplished with a minimal cost to taxpayers.
