Camas police say a body recovered Friday afternoon from Lacamas Creek is that of 40-year-old missing Camas resident Alisha McRay.

Police responded at about 3:40 p.m. to a report of a woman’s body found in the creek south of the Lacamas Lake dam. The section of water is commonly referred to by locals as the “Potholes,” according to a news release from the Camas Police Department.

Because of the location of the body, members of the Georgia Pacific Medical Emergency Response Team shut off the water to the dam to allow rescuers with the Camas/Washougal Fire Department to safely retrieve the body, according to police.

Police said the body matched the physical description of McRay, who was last seen Wednesday morning after dropping her children off at school. Her car was found later at the public parking lot for Lacamas Regional Park off Northeast Everett Street.

Camas police and Clark County sheriff’s deputies searched the park Thursday with no success, and a plane equipped with an infrared camera also failed to locate McRay.

The body was later identified as McRay by family, police said, and her body was turned over to the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine cause and manner of death. However, police say foul-play is not suspected.
