OK as promised, let’s review some rainfall for May from your friends and neighbors: Claudia Chiasson, Carson, 3.24 inches; Tyler Mode, Battle Ground, 2.88 inches; Bob Starr, Cougar, 5.66 inches; Phil Delany, above Dole Valley, 6.30 inches; Robin Ruzek, Lake Shore, 1.98 inches; Bill Sobolewski, Livingston Mountain, 4.81 inches; Dave Campbell, one mile west of Heisson, 2.91 inches; Judy Darke, Felida, 1.54 inches; Larry Lebsack, Barberton, 2.20 inches; Chuck Houghten, Hockinson Heights, 4.45 inches; Jim Knoll, Five Corners, 2.76 inches; Bob Mode, Minnehaha, 1.97 inches; Irv St. Germain, Prune Hill, 2.82 inches; Pete Conrad, Tukes Mountain, 2.76 inches; and our friend Roland Derksen from the Vancouver up north with 5.30 inches. The official rainfall for Vancouver was 1.76 inches.

Last month was much drier, thank goodness, and hopefully set the stage for the rest of the summer. For the first 18 days of the month Vancouver’s rainfall was 1.24 inches, which was exactly average for the date. There is a chance of some drizzle or light showers over some parts of Clark County today as a weak cold front slips by to the north. Any moisture would be very light.

After that skies slowly clear Wednesday and we go back into a nice warm period. Highs by Saturday could be near 90 degrees. At 4 p.m. Monday, Vancouver was reporting 86 degrees.

Summer officially begins at 9:42 this evening.
