HUDSON’S BAY — The Let’s Take Flight! fundraiser brought in more than $128,000 for the Pearson Field Education Center. The Fort Vancouver National Trust hosted the event, which had more than 200 guests, on May 20 to benefit aviation education for youth. The money will go to Pearson’s science, technology, engineering and math-based education programs, which introduce students to careers in aviation. It will also support programs such as summer camps, education resource fairs, open cockpit days, school outreach programs and free Open Saturdays. Recently, Pearson Field Education Center had record-breaking attendance during Open Cockpit Day on May 27 with more than 600 visitors. The Experimental Aircraft Association’s Young Eagles Program in Hillsboro, Ore., provided free flights to 56 youth.
