The M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust, based in Vancouver, announced Tuesday it has hired a chief investment officer.

Elmer Huh, a graduate of Columbia Business School who most recently worked at Ernst & Young Capital Advisors in New York City, was selected by the trust from a pool of more than 100 applicants, the announcement said.

The foundation started in 1975 and provides grants to organizations in the Pacific Northwest. It is named for Melvin J. “Jack” Murdock, a Portland native who helped lead Tektronix, a maker of measurement devices, until his death in 1971.
