VANCOUVER – Cat shelter and rescue organization Furry Friends Cat Shelter is applying to rezone its property and to build a new sidewalk and parking lot.
The shelter moved into its location on Northeast Saint James Road in August 2016 and has spent $58,000 on remodeling, bringing it up to city code and making it handicap accessible, according to one organizer.
Recent filings with the city of Vancouver show Furry Friends hopes to build seven parking stalls on its property. The organization estimates it will need about $50,000 to build the parking and a new sidewalk, if its plans get approved.
Furry Friends is a no-kill cat shelter and a nonprofit staffed by volunteers, according to the filings.
