Camas High School has promoted assistant boys soccer coach Dan Macaya to head coach, athletic director Rory Oster announced Friday.

Macaya is 2003 Camas High graduate, and played on the Papermakers’ state runner-up team as a senior. He’s served as an assistant under Roland Minder since 2011. Minder stepped down as boys head coach after 23 seasons on Monday.

Oster said Macaya is the “absolute perfect fit” to succeed Minder at Camas, which has made the state playoffs 19 consecutive seasons.

Macaya has been part of the Camas community since 1994, and said he believes he’s ready to continue the success and traditions Minder worked to instill.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to coach and mentor the next wave of Camas student-athletes,” Macaya said.
