Portland — Nearly 3,000 Portland General Electric customers in Multnomah County were without power Saturday morning.

“We had an animal incident this morning,” said PGE spokesperson Angela Abel. “Crews are right now switching feeders and trying to get everybody back on this morning.”

Abel said the incident happened in the Peninsula Park area at about 5:40 a.m. Saturday. She encouraged customers to check the utility’s website on progress in restoring electricity.

Motorists cautiously negotiated North Portland intersections where a traffic light typically guided the way. Some North Portland businesses normally open on Saturday morning were closed, some with signs saying they would reopen once electricity returned.
