WILSONVILLE, Ore. — An Oregon man has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison for contributing to the death of a man who he punched outside a bar.

The Oregonian/OregonLive reports 30-year-old Jorge Keymolen Jr. pleaded guilty earlier this month to criminally negligent homicide in the death of 46-year-old Randy Pigeon.

Pigeon was punched in the head in late-June 2016. After falling and hitting his head on concrete, Pigeon spent time in a hospital and died Aug. 8, 2016. His wife says he underwent seven surgeries on his brain throughout 25 days.

Keymolen Jr. apologized to about two dozen of Pigeon’s family members and friends at his sentencing.
