Friends of the Carpenter receive grant for committee

Fruit Valley — Friends of the Carpenter received a $2,000 grant from the Catholic Campaign for Human Development for the nonprofit’s Community Awareness Reaching Empowerment Committee, which organizes field trips and events for participants and provides Friends of the Carpenter staff and board members with feedback on the effectiveness of its programs. Some of those trips have been to the Bonneville Dam, Oregon Zoo, The Grotto and a the beach at Seaside, Ore., for the annual kite festival. The committee started in 2008 and is a collaboration of participants, volunteers, board members and staffers. The Catholic Campaign for Human Development is run locally by the Missions Office of the Archdiocese of Seattle.
