A suspected burglar who was found dead early Friday morning at a Bagley Downs apartment complex has been identified as 31-year-old Emmanuel Furrow of Vancouver.

The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office released the man’s identity Friday afternoon and said the cause and manner of his death are still pending.

Officers responded to a 911 call about 12:25 a.m. for a burglary in progress at a unit at the Marketplace Apartments in the 2900 block of General Anderson Avenue, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

Arriving officers found Furrow face down on the apartment floor and apparently unconscious and not breathing, the agency said.

Officers immediately began CPR and applied an automated external defibrillator. Fire and medical personnel arrived and took over life-saving efforts, but Furrow was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene, according to police.

Vancouver police spokeswoman Kim Kapp said the apartment was occupied, and Furrow was the suspected burglar. She added that all parties knew each other.

Kapp said there was no shooting, and there is no threat to the public.

Police did not release any more information as to what happened leading up to the death. Detectives with the agency’s major crimes unit are investigating, Kapp said.
