When it rains it pours, doesn’t it? That has been the case the last several storms. While the coast had a brighter day Wednesday with no rain in the afternoon, it rained basically all day here in Vancouver.
Snow melt is rapid in Eastern Washington and Oregon as highs earlier this week reached the 70s. Streams on both sides of the Cascades are running high. Even here, at the Interstate 5 Bridge, the Columbia River was expected to reach minor flood stage this week. I remember so many times in years past driving under the freeway by the Quay and water was over the roadway.
Seattle has already surpassed its entire monthly average for rainfall, as has Vancouver. Midafternoon Wednesday we had 4.12 inches and counting of rain. Compare that with the average for the entire month of 3.57 inches.
At least it is a warmer rain, right? That 30-some degree rain was downright nasty. We get a break before another weather system moves inland some time on Friday, lasting into Saturday. Hopefully showers abate and we get an entire day dry on Sunday. Monday, as spring rolls in, should be dry and mild.
