Letter: Stink follows Trump

Scandal follows Donald Trump from his prior business deals to the office of president. He just can’t shake the stink that follows him. The Republican-controlled Congress will avoid this issue like the plague, no hint of impeachment from them.

However, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has the power to revoke Trump’s corporate charter under New York’s Business Corporation Law, Section 1101. This law states that if a corporation has transacted its business in an illegal manner, it has become liable to be dissolved. This would hold Trump and his corporation accountable for violating the Constitution’s Emoluments Clause that directs presidents to divest themselves from their businesses.

Schneiderman, has brought cases against Trump and his foundation and his Trump University, winning a $25 million settlement for victims of his “phony university.” Trump has had almost 20 weeks to correct these abuses of state and national provisions regarding the office of president. If Trump has so little regard for these guidelines, we can expect him to disregard any and all laws he does not like.
