Letter: I-5 Bridge should come second

I get it. They want to build a new Interstate 5 Bridge. Did anybody think about how big of a traffic jam that would cause for three to five years during construction?

We need to first build a bridge east or west of the existing I-5 Bridge to take the traffic while the new one is under construction. It seems to me that another bridge east of the Interstate 205 Bridge would be a better idea. There are a lot of businesses and people moving into the Camas/Washougal area who need a better way to get into Oregon than what we have now.

When I come back into Washington on I-5 or I-205 during rush hour, northbound traffic, all the way to Salmon Creek, goes 60 mph.

Finally, if Oregon doesn’t fix their traffic problems in the Rose Quarter area, then we will still have traffic jams southbound on I-5.
