SEATTLE — A series of thunderstorms rolling through Western Washington has left thousands without power.

More than 38,000 Puget Sound Energy customers were without power just after 6 p.m. in Western Washington.

Puget Sound Energy in Washington said on Twitter that crews were responding to current and new outages Thursday afternoon.

The majority of outages were in and around Olympia where the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office said power lines and power poles were down, along with trees.

Other outages were scattered around Western Washington as far north as Ferndale.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch Thursday afternoon for parts of Oregon and Washington until 11 p.m.

More than 600 customers were without power in the Portland area.
