Three Ridgefield male athletes — Silas Griffith, Trey Knight and Bryan Tavera — set meet records to help the Spudders win their own home track and field invitational Friday at the fourth-annual Spudder Classic at Ridgefield Stadium.

Griffith ran the boys 1,600 meters in 4 minutes, 24.52 seconds and the 3,200 in 9:28.32 to break meet records set in 2014, the meet’s inaugural year.

Knight’s toss of 57 feet, 2 inches in the shot put and Tavera’s 43-2 1/2 mark in the triple jump surpassed meet records set in 2015 and 2016.

The trio helped the Ridgefield capture the boys team title with 111 1/2 points, besting runner-up Washougal (67 1/2 points). Hoquiam was third (51 1/2 ) and La Center (50 1/2 ) and Woodland (47) rounded out the top 5 in team scoring.

Knight also won the discus (168-6), one of six first-places by the Spudders.

In all, nine meet records were set Friday, including six on the boys side. Woodland’s Jacob Davis’ 14.84 time in the 110 hurdles set a meet and school record. Davis also won the 300 hurdles (39.99).

On the girls side, Woodland’s Julia Stepper was a triple winner, taking the 100 (12.27), 200 (26.40) and long jump (17-0 3/4 ) to help the Beavers win the girls team title with 74 1/2 points. Woodland also had first-place finishes from its 400 relay (52.10) and Sarah Retter (400).

Washougal was second (64 points) followed by Kalama (60), North Beach (59) and King’s Way Christian (55) to round out the top 5.

Hockinson’s Alyssa Chapin was a double winner in the 100 hurdles (15.63) and a meet-record time of 47.14 in the 400 hurdles to help the Hawks finish ninth.
