Man pleads guilty to sex crimes against kids

A 29-year-old Washington man has pleaded guilty to 14 counts of sex crimes against children.

The Daily News reported Brett Lee McCord had been immediately taken into custody Tuesday after making his plea.

McCord was charged with four counts each of forcible indecent liberties and first-degree possession of child pornography and six counts of voyeurism.

In September 2015, a Federal Bureau of Investigation special agent asked the Vancouver Police Department for help with a federal search warrant relating to child pornography for a home in Longview.

Court records show activity on a child pornography website from the username “forbucky44” traced back to McCord.

A federal agent found 34 videos and 2,045 images that depicted minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

McCord’s sentencing is scheduled for June 27.

Half brothers guilty in assault on officer

Two men who are half brothers have been found guilty of assaulting an Olympia police officer who shot and wounded them during a late night 2015 encounter in the state capital.

The Olympian newspaper reported that a Thurston County jury on Thursday found Bryson Chaplin and Andre Thompson guilty of a lesser third-degree assault charge. A mistrial was declared on a third assault charge. Chaplin used to live in Vancouver and both defendants have a criminal history in Clark County.

The men were charged with assaulting Officer Ryan Donald on May 21, 2015. The officer encountered Chaplin and Thompson as he responded to a report that two men carrying skateboards tried to steal beer from a grocery store. Donald reported he was being assaulted with a skateboard before the shooting.

Prosecutors declined to criminally charge the officer. A review board found Donald did not violate department policies.

Seattle police have seized over 3,000 marijuana plants from 14 illegal grow houses.

KOMO-AM reported authorities had searched the houses Wednesday morning. They recovered 60 pounds of processed marijuana as well.

Police officers said they also arrested 15 people and seized guns and vehicles at the grow houses in Seattle, Renton and Federal Way.

The Seattle Police Department said investigators believe the grow operations are linked, but do not appear to be tied to the legal marijuana industry.

Man facing commitment flees from ambulance

He didn’t want to go. That much was clear.

A man who Tacoma police had attempted to have involuntarily committed for psychiatric treatment fled from an ambulance Thursday afternoon, according to Tacoma police.

Officers saw the man on the shoulder of Interstate 5 near the South 38th Street exit about 2 p.m., then had him transported by ambulance to Saint Joseph Medical Center, spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.

Shortly after being put into the ambulance, the man got out and fled while yelling he didn’t want to be shot, Cool said.

He got a short way up the offramp to South 38th Street but was taken into custody again nearby.
