Fort Vancouver National Historic Site was awash in color Friday as more than a thousand local students celebrated the rich culture and diversity of the region at the Annual Children’s Culture Parade.

Third- and fourth-grade students from Evergreen and Vancouver Public Schools campuses researched cultures from around the globe to create myriad displays. Students marched from Pearson Air Museum to Fort Vancouver, waving flags and cheering along the way.

District officials, Vancouver Mayor Tim Leavitt and park Superintendent Tracy Fortmann led the annual event.
