A fire burned a Camas home Sunday evening, damaging the building and sending a plume of smoke into the sky visible from state Highway 14.

Firefighters were called to a house fire at 704 S.E. Tampa St. in Camas shortly before 8 p.m.

Gene Marlow, a firefighter with the Camas-Washougal Fire Department, said firefighters arrived to find a single-story home aflame.

Social media posts from neighbors and nearby residents showed a tall, black smoke column and a raging fire in the structure.

Marlow said it appeared no one was home at the time of the fire, and no one was hurt.
