Blueberries serve as lunch star of the month in Evergreen

Fircrest — Washington State University Extension’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education’s Harvest of the Month campaign visited Fircrest Elementary School earlier this month. This month’s local harvest ingredient was blueberries, and more than 450 students tasted blueberry shortcake, which was received favorably by most students. The berries came from a farm in Pasco. Berries will be featured on the lunch menu in elementary schools this month through Evergreen Public Schools.
