A man crossing Mill Plain Boulevard in east Vancouver was hospitalized with severe injuries after he was struck by a westbound driver late Tuesday night.

Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said the man was crossing Mill Plain at Southeast Park Crest Avenue, going north, shortly before midnight Tuesday.

A woman driving west hit him. According to witnesses, she had a green light and was traveling near the speed limit at the time of the crash, Kapp said.

The driver stayed at the scene and called 911. Kapp said she was cooperative with police and there were no indications speed or driver impairment factored into the collision.

The man was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for his injuries.

Kapp said the department’s traffic investigators were looking into the crash.
