An evangelical church in the Carter Park neighborhood plans to tear down and remodel a former teen center to make room for more parking.

Kessid Church, 108 West 28th St., filed a preapplication with the city of Vancouver this week. The church hopes to tear down the former teen center on its property to add 62 parking stalls and three handicap parking stalls.

Officials with the church said the center has not been used for many years.

The 30,000-square-foot church also plans to remodel both its main sanctuary and children’s lobby.

Vancouver firm Wilson Architects is listed as the project planner.

Developers will meet with city planners June 15. For more information, contact case manage Kristian Corbin at kristian.corbin@cityofvancouver.us or 360-487-7818.
