Letter: Help protect the environment

I’m a Running Start student at Clark College, and I’m writing because I think our community should promote more volunteering when it comes to the environment.

The city of Vancouver’s website has many opportunities to make a change in the environment. However, I believe we need to advertise it more and encourage young kids and teens how important our environment really is. We use it for recreation, agriculture, and pure enjoyment. The beautiful state of Washington deserves to stay that way. There are great organizations where we can make a difference, however, it’s only those who seek them who find them.

With the EPA being cut in funding, it may be that we start to see greater areas become more threatened.

Getting the word out further would likely get those unaware interested, and also get adults and children more involved in the communities in which they live.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
