Save the Date: Summer weather arrives in time for outdoors activities

Summer weather has arrived along with a variety of events.

The annual Camtown Youth Festival is a celebration of being a kid, with various forms of entertainment. For ages 3 to 16, there will be games, a craft market and youth information tables, a petting zoo and art show, a selfie photo booth and a kids flea market from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 3 at Crown Park, N.E. 17th Ave. and Everett St. Camas. Race for the Kids 5K is a fundraising event that benefits Teach One to Lead One, a community mentoring program in Clark County’s public schools. The 5K courses heads along the Columbia River waterfront and back, with walking and running options, plus a kids dash and activities. Race-day registration opens at 7:30 a.m. June 3, with the event beginning at 9 a.m. from Esther Short Park, W. Eighth and Columbia streets, Vancouver. Fadin’ by 9 and Misty Mamas return with co-headlining concerts at 7 p.m. June 3 and 2 p.m. June 14 at Magenta Theater, 1108 Main St., Vancouver. Fadin’ by 9 is a Vancouver-based bluegrass band that has performed for Pacific Northwest audiences with a mix of rock, folk, standards and original tunes. The Misty Mamas mix straight-up bluegrass, Americana and Gospel favorites while adding their own spin to traditional and cover songs and bring real-life experience to originals. Grammy Award-winning vocalist and pianist Diane Schuur will lead her quartet in a swinging performance hosted by Bravo Concerts. The jazz concert will be held at 3 p.m. June 4 at the First United Methodist Church, 401 E. 33rd St., Vancouver. Tickets are $30. 360-906-0441 or www.bravoconcerts.com

The fifth annual Craft Beer and Wine Fest will showcase the best craft wines from the state in Esther Short Park. There will also be craft beers from local breweries, cocktails, handmade arts, live music and food. Tickets include admission for all three days, plus tasting glass and tokens. The festival is open 5 to 10 p.m. June 9, noon to 10 p.m. June 10 and noon to 7 p.m. June 11. Tickets are $25, $10 for designated drivers, $65 to $160 for VIP. http://thecraftwinefest.com

Run Like a Girl is a fundraising race open to all that incorporates costumes, ice cream and family activities. The proceeds benefit Second Step Housing, which helps empower homeless individuals and families in Clark County. The 5K and 10K courses start and end near the Vancouver Landing Amphitheater, 100 Columbia St., heading along the Columbia River waterfront. There will also be a free kids run for different age groups, and a costume contest. Race day registration opens at 7:30 a.m. with the race starting at 9 a.m. June 11. National Get Outdoors Day returns to the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site with 40 government, nonprofits and community groups highlight local parks, forests and trails from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 10. There will be such activities as fishing, archery and rock climbing, along with information booths and food vendors along East Fifth Street near the Pearson Air Museum. At Fort Vancouver, visitors can travel through the Brigade Encampment, as re-enactors bring the life of 1840’s trappers to life. Tony Starlight and his AM Gold Seventies Soft Rock Band brings a tribute concert to the music of Elton John at 7:30 p.m. June 10 to the Old Liberty Theater, 113 N. Main St., Ridgefield. This show features Elton John and Bernie Taupin classics “Tiny Dancer,” “Daniel,” “Rocket Man,” “Benny and the Jets,” “Crocodile Rock” and many others.
