Letter: Herrera Beutler should face voters

By Robert Poole, VANCOUVER

I wrote to Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, asking if she planned to vote for President Donald Trump’s Republican “tax reform” measure, which would blow up the federal deficit to the tune of $1.5 trillion. She sent me a reply “responding to your message” which completely failed to address my question. The congresswoman again showed a lack of courage to publicly engage with her constituents. Her cowardice, such as by refusing to face her voters at a real town hall, continues.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
