Cory Davis kicked a 26-yard field goal with no time left to lift W.F. West of Chehalis to a 38-35 victory over Woodland in a 2A district playoff game in Chehalis.

On the play earlier, Davis missed a 37-yard field goal, but the Beavers were flagged for roughing the kicking, resulting in another attempt by Davis with no time left on the clock.

The kick capped a wild, back-and-forth affair.

Behind two early interceptions, W.F. West took a 13-0 lead in the first quarter.

But The Beavers rallied to take a 21-13 halftime lead on a Wyatt Harsh 20-yard run, a Harsh-to-Wyatt Wooden pass and a 38-yard TD pass from Tyler Flanagan to Alex Bishop.

Two Nick Wollen touchdown runs helped make it 28-28 after three quarters.

Harsh completed an 8-yard TD pass to Christian Yager, putting Woodland up 35-28 with about eight minutes left. Wollan completed a 15-yard pass to Leandre Gaines to tie it, 35-35.

Woodland’s next drive stalled at midfield, and the Beavers punted to W.F. West with a little more than minute to play.

The Bearcats moved from their own 37 to the Woodland 19 with five seconds left, setting up those two field goal attempts.

Harsh passed for 312 yards, while Wollan rushed for 279 for the Bearcats.
