When I first heard about all the wildfires blazing in the Northwest, I was concerned about one of my favorite places to visit — Multnomah Falls — being annihilated in the blaze. Luckily, firefighters were able to save most of Multnomah Falls, but with the recent lack of support of forest fire bills, I wonder if legislators even care about the forests.
With the recent Eagle Creek Fire scorching nearly 50,000 acres, there is no better time to act so that the destruction from an event such as the recent wildfire doesn’t happen again. If we want to preserve our natural wonders, the Resilient Federal Forests Act should be fully supported so that the U.S. Forest Service can not only contain these fires faster, but prevent them from happening in the first place.
