Woman’s body found after fire extinguished at homeless camp

OREGON CITY, Ore. — Authorities say a woman was found dead after a fire at a homeless camp was put out near Oregon City.

Clackamas Fire extinguished the blaze, reported by an Oregon City police officer just after 2 a.m. Wednesday near the Abernethy Bridge at Washington and 16th Streets.

Firefighters found the body after the fire was extinguished.

Clackamas Fire investigators, Oregon City police detectives, and the Clackamas County Medical Examiner’s Officer are investigating the death and cause of the fire.

The victim’s identity will be made public after her family is notified.
