Becerra’s Plaza, a shopping center in the Maplewood neighborhood, is heading to court over claims it does not provide adequate access to handicapped persons.

The Association for Western Accessibility, Advocacy & Education, a nonprofit organization, alleges that the shopping center lacks several requirements under state and federal laws to make businesses handicap accessible.

The complaint, filed in Clark County Superior Court, alleges Becerra’s Plaza mainly lacks striped parking for vans, proper signage and ramps to storefronts on the main level.

Becerra’s Plaza, 3503 E. Fourth Plain Blvd., is owned by Knock Out Inc. The shopping center is home to a hair salon, a Mexican restaurant and other businesses.
