Volunteer Opportunities

The Salvation Army in the Northwest is seeking volunteers to ring bells for the upcoming holiday red kettle season. Individuals and groups interested in volunteering can sign up for locations by visiting nwbwllringing@usw.salvationarmy.org

Volunteer Connections provides opportunities through the Human Services Council. For information on the following and other opportunities, call 360-735-3683.

CDM Services is actively recruiting volunteers for its Elder Friends program, to be matched with an isolated senior. Elder Friends commit to one in-person visit to the senior weekly for at least six months. Training and support is provided.

The city of Vancouver seeks a parking services volunteer to test a new pilot process for system improvement. The project involves matching data, using two databases, to integrate information.

Clark County Veteran’s Assistance Center seeks volunteers to greet veterans, direct them to resources, and help with recordkeeping and hospitality.

Evergreen and Vancouver schools are recruiting for lunch buddies and tutors for all schools. Lunch buddies meet one-on-one with a child weekly, eat lunch, talk, play games, or work on a craft project. Tutors will work with individuals or small groups of children, helping with math or literacy.

Friends of the Carpenter seeks help at its Second Chance Thrift Store, with sorting and pricing, setting up displays and assisting customers. Help with special events and in the day center’s office is also needed.

Hope Dementia Support Groups need group facilitators, preferably with personal experience caring for a loved one with dementia. Help facilitate support groups or provide occasional substitution during vacations. Bi-monthly facilitator meetings are required. Training is provided.

Villages Northwest Clark County seeks volunteers to help with its mission of allowing people to age in place, by bringing services to them, rather than bringing people to the services. The nonprofit is just getting started in Southwest Washington. Help is needed launching the movement, with photography, organizing events and more.
