Langsdorf scores as Stanford men’s soccer advances

Cardinal will face No. 1 Wake Forest in NCAA quarterfinals

Mountain View High grad Foster Langsdorf put the finishing touches on Coastal Carolina with a goal in the 90th minute Sunday as the Stanford men’s soccer team advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals with a 2-0 win over the Chanticleers at Stanford.

The ninth-seeded Cardinal (15-2-2) led 1-0 with a goal in the 50th minute.

Langsdorf had three shots in the match including one that went off the post.

Stanford advances to face No. 1 seed Wake Forest (19-1-2) on Saturday at Winston-Salem, N.C., in a rematch of last season’s NCAA championship won by Stanford on penalty kicks.
