Clark County Fire & Rescue firefighters extinguished a fire Tuesday in the attic of a floating home at McCuddy’s Ridgefield Marina.

Clark County Fire spokesman Tim Dawdy said responders received reports about the fire about 1 p.m. at the marina at 5 W. Mill St. Firefighters stationed at the marina located a vacant floating home off dock B and spotted smoke and fire escaping its attic, Dawdy said.

The fire’s source was electrical, Dawdy said. Power to the home had been turned off; an unknown number of workers had been repairing the home and switched its electricity back on, he said.

That’s when the fire started.

The workers were not injured and escaped the home before the firefighters’ arrival.

Three Clark County Fire engines and one unit from Clark County Fire District 6 responded, Dawdy said.

“They brought (the fire) under control quickly,” Dawdy said, “and confined it to the attic.”
