One lane was blocked and traffic slowed for about two hours after grass and brush alongside state Highway 14 near Lieser Road caught fire Wednesday afternoon.

The fire burned on the hillside below homes and north of the the roadway, west of Lieser Road. The fire started around 2:45 p.m., according to emergency dispatch logs.

One lane was blocked as firefighters responded, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation, as was the ramp to the highway from Lieser Road.

The fire burned close to homes along the highway, and a man was in a back yard spraying down flames with a garden hose.

There was also a crash nearby, in the eastbound lanes, that blocked a lane for a time.

WSDOT said the road was cleared by 4:45 p.m.
