Firefighters extinguished an outbuilding fire in Vancouver’s East Mill Plain Neighborhood early this morning.

The fire was reported as a house fire just after 3 a.m. at 220 S.E. 148th Ave. When crews from the Vancouver Fire Department arrived, they found a 10-foot by 30-foot outbuilding in the backyard on fire. Part of the outbuilding was used as a living space, but the residents in the main home said no one was inside.

The group of about 15 firefighters got the fire under control in about 10 minutes, but stayed on scene to prevent the building from rekindling.

The Vancouver Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating what caused the fire.
