BRUSH PRAIRIE — Clark County Fire District 3 will host two informational meetings this month to share information about a proposed property tax levy increase going to voters on the November ballot.

The first meeting is at 6 p.m. Oct. 23 at the district headquarters, 17718 N.E. 159th St., Brush Prairie. The second is at 10 a.m. Oct. 28 at Station 33, 21503 N.E. 227th Ave., Battle Ground.

The district is asking voters for an increase in the levy for emergency services, at a rate of $1.42 per $1,000 of assessed property value.

The 13-cent increase amounts to an additional $4.33 per month, or $52 per year, for a property valued at $400,000.

Call volumes have increased as costs have risen, according to the district, which has said it would have to borrow money and reduce staffing to make up for the shortfall, should the levy increase not pass.
