Earthquake hits rural Clatsop County

PORTLAND — An earthquake struck in rural Clatsop County on Sunday night.

The magnitude 3.4 quake hit southeast of the community of Jewell shortly before 10:30 p.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. It was about 14 miles deep.

Jewell is about 28 miles southeast of Astoria on Oregon 202.

People in the Portland metro, Seaside, Clatskanie, Vernonia, Astoria, Rockaway Beach and Halsey areas reported feeling the quake.
