Greg Jayne’s Sept. 3 opinion column, “Too many parents of young athletes missing the goal,” was outstanding. Every parent needs to read it, including those in my own family. Having been a recreation director in L.A., and recreation supervisor in Portland, I have been at odds with these programs and I find this an excellent explanation as to why we need to put a dent in it.
