I’m responding to the Sept. 3 Columbian story “Charity care tests hospitals.” This is exactly what is wrong with “for-profit health care,” which has never worked anywhere.
We need universal health care for all, just like all the other major countries have. The health care industry is in the business to make money and does not really care about the people but, rather, how much they can overcharge us for a bigger profit. We pay more for health care and medicine than any other country in the world, more than many people can afford. We pay taxes, so our taxes should be used to provide health care for everyone. Health care is not a privilege, it should be our right as human beings.
