Police officer dragged by suspect’s car in arrest scuffle

MARYSVILLE — Authorities say a 30-year-old police officer in Marysville was injured when a man resisting arrest dragged the officer with his car.

The Daily Herald reports an officer stopped the driver at 4:20 a.m. Monday.

Police say the officer attempted to arrest the driver after noticing what looked like drug paraphernalia in the car.

Police say the two fought and that the man jumped back into the driver’s seat, put the car in reverse and dragged the officer on the road.

Police say the car then hit the police cruiser of a second officer who had arrived and then the car struck another parked unoccupied car.

Other officers who arrived used a stun gun on the driver to arrest him.

Police say the injured officer suffered a broken finger, a bruised hip and road rash.

The officer was treated at an Everett hospital and released.
