VANCOUVER – Lee Rafferty, former director of Vancouver’s Downtown Association, and The Columbian will be honored next week by the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce.

Rafferty is honored for her leadership on behalf of businesses in downtown Vancouver, the chamber said. In eight years as director of the VDA, Rafferty led efforts to bring public art, facade improvements, business training, and helped raise nearly $2 million in downtown investment, the chamber said.

“Lee is an entrepreneurial leader, strategic thinker, consensus builder and can recognize the potential in others,” the chamber said.

The Columbian was named large business of the year for bringing pertinent news to the community since its founding in 1890, as well as partnering with local businesses and charities to raise money in the community.

Chapelle’s Towing, TriStar Family Chiropractic, state Rep. Brandon Vick, Mark Matthias and Ali Novinger will each be recognized, as well.

The chamber’s Business & Leadership Awards will be held 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hilton Vancouver Washington, 301 W. Sixth St. It is a Kentucky Derby-themed banquet. Tickets cost $75 per person or $900 for a table.
