OLYMPIA — An Olympia commission is proposing the city’s elected officials receive a salary increase of about 25 percent.
The Olympian reported that the independent commission of five city residents will review on Tuesday the final proposal that would increase the mayor’s salary to about $25,000, the mayor pro tempore’s salary to about $23,000 and the council members’ salaries to about $21,000.
The mayor currently receives a salary of $19,968; the mayor pro tempore makes $18,304 per year. The annual salary for council members is $16,640 each. Any changes made to salaries must be filed with the city clerk’s office by Oct. 1, and the increases would take effect 30 days after the filing.
City Manager Steve Hall said the last pay increase for the elected officials was in 2008.
