Battle Ground officials rescind water alert

BATTLE GROUND — The city of Battle Ground lifted its Stage II Water Alert, which was declared on Aug. 4 due to hot weather and asked residents to conserve water to ensure reserves continued to meet needs.

While rain and cooler weather reduced the demand for water, city officials note that year-round water conservation is a worthwhile and cost-saving practice.

Battle Ground uses eight wells to draw water from underground aquifers. Water production levels are at 80 percent of capacity and continue to decline, according to a release from the city. Rainfall does not immediately or completely recharge aquifers.

The city offers up some tips for water conservation at www.cityofbg.org/conserve-water.
