Letter: U.S. is crackpot regime

How did we become a nation where a single individual, the president, can bring down this country? How is the U.S. now any different from any other crackpot regime where the well-being of its people is subservient to the ego of its ruler?

I’m not sure what to call the United States. It’s certainly no longer a democratic republic when more than 50 percent of its citizens oppose its current ruler, and he still sits with his finger on the nuclear button and no one can stop him.
