Letter: Think creatively about the future

Greg Jayne’s brilliant “outside the box” opinion column (“Add to Wish List, Cart: Amazon HQ2 in Vancouver,” Sept. 17), prods The Couv to think creatively about its future. A lot of exciting things are happening around town and, to some observant folk, Vancouver feels like it is coming of age. But will we have the vision, civic leadership, and necessary infrastructure in place when the next transformative company is looking for a first or second home?

Quoting Robert F. Kennedy (“I dream of things that never were, and ask ‘why not?’ “), Payton Rush, a grade school student (“We can do hard things”), and Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos (“What’s dangerous is not to evolve”) is both challenging and entirely appropriate at this time in our city’s evolution.
