Don’t fret, Storm fans. Your Skyview football team is just fine.

After back-to-back lopsided losses to top-rated teams from Seattle, the Storm got back on track in a big way, routing Mountain View 49-21 in a non-league game Friday at Kiggins Bowl

“We wanted to come out and make a statement,” said senior Cole Grossman, who missed the past two games with a shoulder injury. “Those last two games did not go as we wanted them to go. So we wanted to make a statement, and I think we did.”

The Storm never punted in rolling up 474 yards of offense, most of which came in barely more than two quarters of play, and the defense made some big hits that rocked the Thunder.

“They were on point tonight,” Grossman said of the defense as his injury limited him to the offensive side of the ball. “They were looking good, filling gaps, making tackles. It was good seeing that.”

Contributions came from all over.

Max Rose completed 13 of 15 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns. Sophomore Jalynnee McGee rushed for 162 yards on just eight carries, scoring two touchdowns. Angelo Sarchi rushed for three scores.  Grossman caught six passes for 113 yards and two TDs.

The Storm wasted no time after forcing Mountain View to punt on its first possession. Skyview drove 56 yards on nine plays, the final being a 2-yard touchdown run for McGee and a 7-0 lead.

The game swung in a big way when Mountain View drove to the Skyview 1 on its next possession. But the Storm defense forced a fumble to turn the Thunder away.

On the next play, McGee broke free on a 55-yard run. Three plays later, Grossman had his first TD reception, a 21-yard game, and Skyview led 14-0.

After another Mountain View punt, Skyview made it 21-0 on Sarchi’s first TD run of six yards set up by a 34-yard reception by Grossman.

A Carter Hill interception set up Grossman’s second TD catch, a 24-yard grab that put Skyview up 28-0.

Even when Mountain View got into the end zone, Skyview responded with a 58-yard TD run by McGee.

Michael Lundgren’s hit knocked Mountain View quarterback Glen Perry Jr. out of the game, and Austin Nolan grabbed the resulting fumble out of the air and returned it 31 yards to the 11. Sarchi ran it in from there for a 42-7 Skyview lead at halftime.

Grossman said the Storm have put their last two games behind them and are firmly focused on the future.

“We’re feeling good now,” Grossman said. “We can always fix stuff, make stuff better. But we feel really good right now. We’re just going to keep this rolling if we can. We’ve got big games coming up.”
